Legal & Privacy
Legal Disclaimer
First off, this is a hobby site. We don’t profit from this site at all. That said, certain parts of this site deal with activities that could lead to personal harm. GhostsAndMonsters.com does not accept liability for any injury, loss, legal consequences or incidental or consequential damage incurred by reliance on information or advice provided on this site. The site’s information is a collection of American folklore, legends, myths, pop culture and personal experiences. It’s just for good ol’ fun, so it is for entertainment purposes only.
Images & Written Content
If you’d like us to remove an image, it’s not a problem. We’ll take it down ASAP. But, we buy most of our featured images from ShutterStock, Adobe Stock, Unsplash or Pixabay. Please make sure you’re not selling them there first. Also, we search for images with “Creative Commons,” “Labelled for reuse” or “Labelled for noncommercial reuse.” If we found them with those labels, then please update your site’s meta data to make it clear it’s not for reuse. If we found them as a license-free image, then a lot of other people did, too.
As for the articles and ghost hunting pics, you can use them freely, just drop a reference with GhostsAndMonsters.com as the source. GhostsAndMonsters.com’s site content is for commentary, criticism (as part of a review), news reporting, education, research and good, creepy fun. As for our ghost hunting pics, you’re free to use them—just source our site. Now, go spread the fun of ghost and monster hunting!
Privacy Information
We don’t use your personal info for business whatsoever, but there’s a few things to know about WordPress, Google Analytics, our email settings and social sharing buttons. This site uses cookies to know which articles visitors read. These cookies are dropped by Google Analytics. They will get deleted after 26 months, per Google’s policy, or when you clear your browser.
If you block cookies, the site will still work for you. If you block JavaScript, then you won’t be able to use social sharing buttons, submit a comment or reply, nor will you be able to use the Contact Us page. Essentially, if you need to click something for it to work, you need JavaScript for it.
The only time we receive personal information is when a visitor comments or replies on a post, or they submit an email address and name on our Contact Us page. Email addresses will get deleted 30 days after submission. As for visitors’ comments or replies, the system stores email addresses, screen names and IP addresses. This is how WordPress works for comments and replies. We can’t change that. If you want us to delete a comment or reply, we will as soon as possible, but our response will still be available to other visitors. Please use the Contact Us page to tell us where your comment or reply is, so we can delete it.
When visitors use the social sharing buttons on posts, the social media platform will receive personal information to post to visitors’ profiles. If you don’t want that exchange to happen, then you can simply copy and paste the URL into your social media profile. Our social sharing plug-in counts the number of times visitors share an article, but it does not store any personally identifiable information.
