In the world of Halloween, there’s 3 categories of witches and each practices witchcraft (or magick) in different ways and with different intentions.

These witches include:

• Light witches, who want to help other people, animals and the environment
• Gray witches, who are mostly interested in themselves and those close to them
• Dark witches, who are consumed with power, greed and becoming superior to other people and witches

Comparing The 3 Witches

Rarely do the 3 types of witches tussle: They usually stay in their communities. But, sometimes, they have to combine forces or fight one another.

It’s never a good thing when spellcasters duke it out. Someone, some animal or the earth gets a nasty bruise or worse.

Light Witches

Light witches generally perfect the craft that deals with healing the sick, protecting people from harm, divination and what appears to be psychic abilities. It would classify as personal magick.

When they need to use earth magick, it focuses on helping people, animals and the environment. They would help a farmer grow crops, find a lost pet or clean up a polluted river.

A light witch performs a lot of rituals to accomplish their goals. You may see them draw a pentagram, use feathers, smoke and dirt, or make a great recipe!

Light witches never ask for anything when they help. They take on the burden and trade offs required to use magick. It causes them to age faster since they give a part of their life to help others.

Gray Witches

A gray witch uses more earth magick than personal or cosmic magick. They use it to mainly help themselves or family members. A gray witch doesn’t necessarily mean to harm anyone, but they will to right a wrong done to them or family.

They use their magick to attract money or wealth, but not necessarily power like a dark witch. Gray witches keep a steady balance so as not to tip into the dark parts of magick. In some cases, they will sacrifice an animal to achieve a goal.

Many gray witches are business people. They don’t go into exploiting natural resources to fuel their money cravings. At the end of the day, Mother Nature still rules and it will exact a heavy price for destroying our planet.

A gray witch always asks for payment for their service. It’s usually money or something valuable. That value can be sentimental.

Dark Witches

You can think of dark witches as the Sith of the Star Wars movies. They want power and they want it now.

As a result, they work with a lot of dark parts of magick, the cosmic aspect. To accomplish their goals, they make deals with different entities not on our plane of existence. It comes with a heavy price, but dark witches know how to barter: They’ll kill to get what they want. Essentially, they trade a life so they can continue their own.

Don’t put anything past a dark witch. They’re ruthless, cunning, deceptive and manipulative. If you need help, don’t go to them. They’re like loan sharks that will require more than you bargained for.

However, once you make a deal, the dark witch must follow it to the letter. If they stray from the intention, any pain caused will return to them 3 times more hurtful. And they can’t protect themselves from it.

In other words, read the fine print on your agreements.

The Secret To Witchcraft

Magick takes on a different type of aspect with witches. Each category specializes in one of the three, but witches can use all 3 kinds.

Witches channel their willpower, intent, thoughts and feelings to mysterious particles in the universe. It attracts an action in return. However, the universe can alter course if your fate is different.

Nothing is ever guaranteed but rituals and spells help with accuracy. The longer the ritual or spell, the more likely you can manifest the desired effect.
